(Online) Guardrails of Governance: Legal and Administrative Resilience in Trump 2.0
This is the second webinar in the Security and Sustainability Forum’s “Navigating the Trump 2.0 Deregulatory Agenda” series. It delves into potential risks to the rule of law and administrative governance in the newly elected Trump 2.0 administration, particularly in light of recent Supreme Court rulings affirming presidential immunity for official acts. Each new administration as its new priorities.
The Trump administration in particular has proposed policy changes that are dramatically different than those the Biden administration has pursued. For example, it proposes to reverse many environmental and energy initiatives that the Biden administration championed and take measures that would dramatically reduce the influence of administrative agencies. This panel explores the guardrails, checks and balances that the Trump administration will confront. Topics include strategies for agency steadiness, the economic significance of regulatory frameworks, risks to transparency and accountability and agency staff morale.
Attendees will gain insights into actionable strategies for federal, state, and local officials, public interest groups, and citizens to preserve institutional integrity and protect democratic governance during changing times. The webinar is a collaboration between the Security and Sustainability Forum, George Washington University’s Law School, and the GWU Environmental and Energy Management Institute.
