CPS Energy Rate Advisory Committee

Utility/City committee dedicated to utility rate design. The Rate Advisory Committee started discussing rate design in early 2023 after more than a year developing a power generation proposal to move the utility off of coal (they chose the most gas-intensive option). At their June meeting, which may be one of their last, RAC members will finally debate rate design. (We know it’s not on the agenda, but we’re supposed to read between the lines on “discuss survey results.”)

RAC’s Mission Statement:

“Members of the RAC will devote the necessary time and energy to learn about the utility business and the rate design function in order to understand and provide thoughtful input and perspectives to CPS Energy Management and Board of Trustees on rate structure, rate design, proposed rate increases and generation planning issues.”
