Event Details

San Antonio’s two climate committees–SA Climate Ready’s Equity and Technical teams of volunteers–meet this week to continue refining their priorities for the months (and fiscal year) ahead. The Climate Equity Advisory Committee meets 4pm-6pm on Monday and the Technical and Community Advisory Committee meets 4pm-6pm Tuesday. Additionally, a proposal is on the table to form a Debarbonization Subcommittee to focus on (we imagine) closing the region’s largest climate offender: CPS Energy’s JK Spruce coal plant.

Among the existing or evolving priorities are: Discussion of current Advisory Committee priorities, including energy benchmarking, resilience hubs, engagement and communications, the 2022 Bond, the Unified Development Code, and the International Energy Conservation Code.

Doug Melnick, chief sustainability officer for the City, will brief the group on the draft Fiscal Year 2022 City Budget.

See Equity’s agenda here. Technical’s mirror agenda is here.

The in-person meeting is being held at two separate locations. Equity at the San Antonio River Authority (201 W. Sheridan Street, San Antonio, Texas 78204); Technical gathers at Pre-K for SA North (3635 Medical Dr., San Antonio, Texas 78229). See Google Map below.

Livestream is available through the Office of Sustainability’s Committees page (and also via its Facebook page).
