One of the most prolific nature photographers of our time, Mangelsen has been described as a spiritual descendant of pioneering American nature photographers Ansel Adams, Eliot Porter and Edward Weston. Bill Allen, the now retired Editor-in-Chief of “National Geographic”, considers Mangelsen to be one of the most important nature photographers of his generation. Forty classic photographs by Mangelsen, photographs which the photographer himself refers to as his legacy photographs, were personally selected by the photographer for this retrospective exhibition. Included with Admission, children 12 and under are free!

A Contemporary Art exhibit of clay sculptures by renowned ceramicist Veronica Castillo Salas, depicting the relationship of women to the earth.
Through a deeply contemplative artistic practice, Castillo creates images of women and earth intertwined as allegorical representations of rebirth, regeneration and regrowth. By focusing on literal, metaphorical, and symbolic representations of indigenous women engaged in daily activities such as planting and harvesting food, grinding corn, talking to birds, climbing trees; she hopes to expand how we understand procreation. While women are traditionally depicted as mothers, Castillo wants to honor women as life affirming radical matriarchs, caretakers of the Earth, that also birth ideas & dreams.
We welcome the public, friends and family to this Free Admission, One Night Only Exhibit. This exhibit is partially funded by @City of San Antonio Arts & Culture Department & The Individual Artist Grant. Also, by @a todo dar productions and @Galeria E.V.A. (ecos y voces del arte).
Light refreshments will be on site for a small offering. (cash or card accepted)
Exhibit will include live art. Please make sure that all little humans are able to hold their expressions and movement energy during live art performance. We love all little humans to be wildly expressive outside and supervised.
