CPS Energy, San Antonio’s city-owned electric and gas utility, is assessing how to replace aging power plants and provide for population growth. The Board of Trustees has directed their Rate Advisory Committee to provide them with a recommendation for how to close the utility’s last coal plant by 2030. The ongoing generation planning process will be used to identify the types of power generation resources to be added over the next several years. Meanwhile, CPS Energy officials, hosting several events closing out the year to brief the public on its work, are scheduled to make a recommendation on an updated generation plan to our Board of Trustees in late 2022—most likely December 19, 2022.

Folks are invited to one of two sessions this day.
