Teletextile Sound Bath Sunday Series:
Pamela Martinez of Teletextile holds space with sonic meditation as a time to tune into your higher self. These meditations happen on the second to last Sunday of most months. $20 Suggested Donation. Pay via Eventbrite ticket to hold your spot or make a donation at the door via Venmo and cash. No one will be turned away due to a lack of funds, however, there are limited spots available(20). It is a safe space for marginalized members of LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and disabled communities.
Please plan to stay for the whole hour and we often go a little longer. Bring a mat or blanket to lie down on, chairs available for those who prefer to sit. (The floor is concrete and body temperatures tend to drop during meditation.) Come at 3:45 to get comfortable and grab a spot. The Sound Bath Meditation will start sharply at 4:00 pm. Doors will be locked at 4:05 pm (This is an adult workshop, accompanied minors may join with request and approval on an individual basis.)
Please contact Pamela at teletextile@gmail.com to inquire about work-study and exchanges.
About Teletextile Sound Bath:
Participants of the Sound Bath can expect to be lulled into deep relaxation using the sounds of singing bowls, gong, harmonium, vocals, and other sound sources to provide a meditative and healing environment while seated in a chair or more traditionally lying down on the ground. (Please bring your own yoga mats for lying down, we will have some blankets available or bring your own.)
Sound Bath Benefits:
The body needs time to relax and rejuvenate. Research has confirmed that even listening to certain music can effectively and rapidly elicit a relaxation response and bring about chemical, hormonal, and cellular change that actively promotes healing. When our parasympathetic nervous system is stimulated [via our vagus nerve] by soothing sounds, we are sending a message of calm and relaxation to every part of our body. So when we say that something is “music to our ears,” it’s actually so much more. It’s a massage for every organ in the body. (Silvia Nakkach, Free Your Voice)
