Kamala Platt

Kamala Platt, Ph.D., M.F.A. is an adjunct professor, artist, independent scholar and author in South Texas and at The Meadowlark Center, Kansas. Her creative publications include Weedslovers (Finishing Line Press 2014); On the Line (Wings Press 2010) & Kinientos (Wordsworth 1992). As a founding scholar of environmental justice cultural criticism, she is also author of Environmental Justice Poetics: Cultural Representations of Environmental Racism from Chicanas and Women in India (DeGruyter 2023). For decades she has shared her visual and performance art and poetry broadly, most often in community arts and cultural centers, and through “green rascuache” lifeways, she searches borderlands for footholds of dignity & well-being amidst a feverish planet’s crises.
