Deceleration’s Well Being Guide

Deceleration Well Being Guide lists opportunities in greater San Antonio for ecstatic dance, yoga & fitness, meditation & breathwork, sexual health, and more.

Our guide to Well Being resources is rooted in the idea that our bodies and our minds are worthy and good exactly as they are. We aren’t in need of self-improvement or “Wellness”(™). We believe that pleasure, joy, connection, and emotional regulation are basic human rights. Here you will find activities, organizations, and other community resources for ecstatic dance, meditation, yoga, sound healing, drumming, sexual health, and support that are local, in-person, and affordable.

This guide will be updated seasonally. Send us your well being news. — Jennifer Lane, Page Editor

ONGOING WEEKLY or MONTHLY EVENTS and CLASSES

ECSTATIC / CONSCIOUS DANCE

San Antonio has a thriving grass roots conscious and ecstatic dance community. Dances are based loosely on the five rhythms method for creative movement, developed by Gabrielle Roth in the 1970s. Different rhythms, building from stillness to release, make up an eclectic musical “wave” that lasts about one hour and encourages creative, free, movement. Ecstatic and conscious dance spaces are safe, inclusive, sober, and judgement-free. All ages are welcome, locations vary.
