TAKE ACTION: Drive for Black Lives!

PLEASE SHARE WIDELY!

August 1st is the day for the Nationwide March for Black Lives Matter in Washington, D.C., with solidarity actions happening across the nation. San Antonio will organize a car caravan that is also a food drive, hosted by San Antonio Coalition for Police Accountability. Saturday is also a national day of action for the Justice for Vanessa Guillen movement. Participants are showing up in support of both.

“It is crucial that we take action on this day for both the Black Lives Matter movement and
Vanessa Guillen to show that we are united in our fights. We are fighting for equality and justice
for all, no matter what your race, age, gender, sexual orientation, job, etc,” stated Ananda Tomas,
lead organizer and member of San Antonio Coalition for Police Accountability.

To participate, enter the AT&T Center in Lot 4 at Gate D.

Show up with your car already decked out, or with supplies to decorate there. Organizers will also have some pre-made signs to help decorate your cars. Social distancing guidelines will be followed. MASKS REQUIRED IF YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR VEHICLE!!

The event is also a food drive to collect items desperately needed by the San Antonio Food Bank, which has been struggling to keep up with distributions to the community during the ongoing pandemic. Bring non-perishable goods, pet food, or even diapers and wipes to donate to help out.

Participants in the caravan will drive from Eastside San Antonio to the Westside to represent
the unity between Latinx and Black communities in San Antonio. Community radio station KROV will be hosting a live radio show during the drive! Here is how to listen:

1.) Download the Tune In Radio App on your phone
2.) Tune in to KROV through the app at 11:30 AM
3.) You can call in if you would like. Call in number is 210-785-9227.

(It may ask you to upgrade and pay for a premium account when you first download but you can just skip this step.)

This action takes place during months of protests after the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, and after the disappearance and murder of Vanessa Guillen. It is hosted by the San Antonio Coalition for Police Accountability.

MAKE SURE TO GAS UP YOUR CAR BEFOREHAND AND BRING WATER AND SNACKS FOR THE DRIVE. IT WILL TAKE ABOUT AN HOUR!
