Clips from attorney videos
On Saturday, January 24, 2026, immigration attorney Eric Lee had his visitation with a client cut short. Outside the Dilley Immigration Processing Center south of San Antonio he began to record the voices of what he described as "hundreds" and "a thousand" detainees chanting "Libertad!" and "Let us out!"
A voice off camera instructs him to stop filming. It's a command he resists as he continued to narrate on X about the protest that has erupted inside. He said he was told the protest was to decry the treatment of 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos. The child, now being held at the facility with a spotted human-rights record with his father, was snatched from his home in Minneapolis by ICE agents and allegedly used as "bait" in an attempt to lure out his mother from her home.
The father urged his wife not to open the door, the Associated Press reported.

Lee said the protest was also in solidarity with the general strike in Minnesota that shut down workplaces in Minneapolis demanding ICE out of the city after the second killing of a local resident attempting to document ICE activities there.
“The message we want to send is for them to treat us with dignity and according to the law. We’re immigrants, with children, not criminals,” Maria Alejandra Montoya Sanchez told the AP in a phone interview from the facility after the demonstration.
She and her 9-year-old daughter have been held at Dilley since October, the Associated Press reported.
Lee said the protestors inside were calling for support from those on the outside.
In response, a caravan for Wednesday, January 28, 2026, has been organized to the site.
