Earth Month means Resistance. We’re deep into the promised chaos and retribution of Trump 2.0. watching the demolition of basic social services in keeping with Project 2025’s radical Christofascist vision for crushing democracy to enshrine rule by wealth. This regime is going full force to co-opt, control, or eradicate any force capable of standing in its way. This is what is behind the dismantling of the federal bureaucracy, attacks on the courts, threatening major law firms into submission, cooption of major media houses, and direct attacks on civil society, including rising numbers of illegal arrests and deportations. And yet we’ve only seen the groundwork so far being laid for the pogroms that are before us if we don’t shut down this regime. MAGA is working to make our next election even more restrictive as Trump brags about plans to circumvent the Constitution to stay in power for a third term. This is what autocrats do. Threatening war on allies and friends near and far is how dictators act. On top of everything else: Trump has assembled the most ecocidal cabal imaginable to not only slow the rise of cleaner energy sources—but to eradicate them from our options so the fossil fuel billionaires can wring out the utmost profits from the sources of the planet’s overheating. Federal lands without mining and logging simply have no value with this bunch. Wild lands that do the work of stitching a livable planet together are value-less. Hands Off! is the correct response. Deceleration supports all efforts to imagine and grow the world beyond extraction and oppression. We also support standing against petro tyranny.
