Deceleration is all about stimulating a shift to healthier living, communities, and culture. Our Happening events calendar highlights lots of fun and critical (some critical and fun) San Antonio and South Texas happenings each month. For those about growing a better world, we work to direct you quickly to the most potentially transformative meetings, climate actions, skillshares, and gatherings to help facilitate the development of ever more resilient networks of common care.

Total Eclipse Bioblitz and Permablitz!

There is a big buzz around this historic eclipse, and at this event we are creating a lasting buzz by planting native pollinator plants and learning how to regenerate healthy soil, healthy hydrology, healthy groundwater, healthy springflows, and healthy ecosystems.
If you are not in the path of totality, where the sun will be totally blocked by the moon for about 4 minutes, you should find a spot within this path. There are plenty of options across the USA from Mexico to Maine. If you are even slightly out of this path, you will not see a total eclipse (ask me how I know). I am offering up a 30 acre ecosystem regeneration demonstration site near the center of totality to folks who love nature, and who are smart or curious about native plants and how we can increase the biodiversity of beneficial plants in the Hill Country.
- This site has hosted a few Permablitz gatherings since 2020, and the regeneration results have already been a huge success!
- If you have ever participated in a permablitz, Please come.
- If you have a permaculture design certificate, Please come.
- If you are a plant nerd, bird nerd, reptile nerd, a master gardener, master naturalist, or a member of the Native Plant Society of Texas, or Audubon, or Sierra Club, Please come.
- If you have experience with running a bioblitz, documenting this biodiversity through I-Naturalist or similar platforms, Please educate me, and Please come.
Red Bluff creek is flowing clear, clean, and beautiful, so there will be places to swim and cool off.
Hope to see y’all there!!!!!
Please RSVP to get more info, and to help me get an accurate headcount. Family friendly, but there are the typical risks associated with outdoor adventures.
