4th Annual Outside For All: An Outdoors Celebration

The San Antonio Parks Foundation, in partnership with the City of San Antonio Parks & Recreation Department, is proud to announce the 4th Annual Outside For All, a free outdoor celebration of the diverse outdoor recreation and green space opportunities in our community!
Parking is readily available in the spacious lot on St. Mary’s St. located next to the Japanese Tea Garden and the Tuesday Musical Club.
The theme for 2023 is “Co-Creating Community In Urban Parks” with a keynote address by former U.S. Housing & Urban Development Secretary, Henry Cisneros focusing on the role of government funding in creating and supporting dynamic public green spaces. Round table discussions open to all park users, facilitated by topic experts will follow the keynote address. Round tables will center on three discussion topics:
1) How do we acknowledge the complex histories of parks and parklands in ways that nurture the co-creation of community in parks? Round table facilitated by Jeanette Honermann, REI (Recreational Equipment, Inc.)
2) What are some effective approaches to securing funding through public and private partnerships, and individual giving? Round table facilitated by David McCary, City of San Antonio
3) What are some best practices to develop programming and initiatives for successful community engagement? Round table facilitated by Vanessa Torres, National Park Service
Representatives from each round table will give a summary of their discussion along with suggested solutions. The event provides park users a platform to share their ideas and concerns on how all parks can be intentionally inclusive and welcoming in order to fully utilize resources for outdoor spaces, including diversity, walkability, security, transportation connectivity, and wellness. The results of this continuing dialogue help the community at large, and area governmental leaders gain an understanding of public needs.
Closing remarks will be given by San Antonio Parks Foundation Board Member and Outside For All Event Chair, Brandon A. Logan.
