Extreme Heat Risk Roaring into Texas this Week (Slideshow)

High temps and humidity being amplified by fossil fuels combustion threatening residents across Texas. Here's who is most at risk and how to help reduce harm.

Extreme Heat Risk Roaring into Texas this Week (Slideshow)

A week of extreme heat risk looms. The heat index (heat + humidity) could reach 110F or higher in coming days across much of Texas. Those who are able are encouraged to stay in a cool place during the heat of the day. Check in on your neighbors. Remember those most at risk include unhoused communities, pregnant mothers, infants and children, elderly people, workers (outdoor mainly, but many warehouse workers too!), and even some medications may impair your ability to cool your body.

Remember most incarcerated people in Texas have no access to A/C. And U.S. House Republicans are working to advance a bill that would block OSHA from requiring water breaks for workers—nationally.

Yup. Spurs Jesus is truly not coming to save us. It will take all of us pushing together to make climate action and environmental justice a priority in every community—and every budget cycle.
