SATX Social Ride | Ride to the Polls: Run-Off Edition!

Districts 1 and 7 are in a run-off election, so we are riding to the polls AGAIN! This run-off election affects a large amount of our riders, as well as the infrastructure of the parks and rec areas we enjoy in the downtown area. We will ride out from Man Overboard Brewery at 7:00 sharp. Find parking under the highway adjacent to Man Overboard Brewery.

This will be a slow roll, 8-10 miles total. Our first stop is the Polls at Lions Field where riders can cast their early vote. We do not care who you vote for as long as you vote!
Local politicians may be attending (and all are invited to ride and explain their positions on cycling).

After everyone has a chance to vote, we will have a chill ride around the city. We should return to Man Overboard around. 845.

Social Rides are all about ENCOURAGING and RESPECTING your fellow cyclists. Ride predictably and safely.
Kids riding bikes are welcome (though this is too far for young kids on training wheels). Children need to be wearing HELMETS on this ride. Minors must ride with parents at ALL times.
Bring tubes and CO2 or a pump for air. Please look over your bike before leaving home to ensure its in decent working conditions. No drop ride with marshals helping with bike issues.
8 to 10 mile route, slight hills, slow to moderate pace (9-12 mph), multiple regrouping stops.
We do NOT have a SAG vehicle and VERY FEW volunteers to facilitate the ride.
If you breakdown, we will do all we can to get you going, but be prepared to have a back up plan. Tonight is not a “no drop ride”, but we will do everything to assist with our limited numbers.

****LIGHTS****
– Remember we stop at Red Lights. We do not block traffic we ride AS TRAFFIC. Stay in ONE LANE whenever possible. Call out obstacles for your fellow riders.
– Listen to your Ride Ambassadors, they are looking out for OUR own good! Ride with proper bike etiquette. Don’t cut anyone off, call out all road obstacles, do not run red lights. You know traffic rules and they apply to bicycles.
