TAKE ACTION: COVID-19 Recovery & Utility Justice Town Hall

flaring

UPDATE (9:24PM): THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED. NATIONAL SIERRA CLUB IS PUTTING ALL OF ITS COMMUNICATIONS AND OUTREACH ON PAUSE TO HELP KEEP OUR FOCUS ON THE WORK OF BLACK LIVES MATTER ACROSS THE NATION.

We know pollution kills. We know that utility rates aren’t fair. And we know that eviction is not the answer. Join environmental, public health and housing advocates to discuss a new report from Optimal Energy Inc. (in collaboration with Sierra Club) that shows how bringing energy efficiency and renewable energy into our neighborhoods can be a key element of a justice-based recovery in San Antonio, Texas.

More than a decade ago, our communities showed CPS Energy how saving energy can keep rates low, improve our homes, and prevent the construction of polluting power plants. Now, as CPS Energy leaders begin to set goals for the next wave of the Save for Tomorrow Energy Plan (STEP) program, our elected leaders need to hear from us. Energy efficiency is about the coal we didn’t burn, it’s about a stable climate and relief from summer heat, and it’s about keeping the bills down in this most economically segregated of large US cities. A big part of an effective and just recovery from the Covid-19 crisis hasn’t been talked about yet. It’s time for bold renewable energy and energy efficiency investments.
